PSII-B-19 Adaptation Periods Protocol for Nellore Cattle in Intensive Pasture Finishing

چکیده

Abstract Our objective was to evaluate the performance of Nellore cattle in intensive pasture finishing (TIP), fed for 96 days and submitted different adaptation periods, aiming reach 2% BW DMI concentrate (DMIc)/BW at end period. A total 240 bulls (iBW 359kg±5.02 kg; 20 mo) were distributed randomized blocks, allocated paddocks 2.4 ha (Urochloa brizantha cv. Xaraés; 10 animals/paddock), with two treatments 12 replications (paddock as experimental unit). The were: 1) 9 on (ADAP9), DMIc/BW 10th day; 2) 14 (ADAP14), 15th day. animals weighed fasting (± 16h) beginning, day 28, period, DMIc measured daily by difference between offered leftovers. Data analyzed using SAS ANOVA procedure P< 0.05. Evaluating period beginning 27th day, ADAP9 showed greater (6.9 vs. 6.5kg/d; P=0.009), (1.8 1.7% BW; P =0.0043) fluctuation (9.4 5.9% DMIc/d; 0.001) compared ADAP14. In fattening there no (P >0.05), (8.7 8.5 kg DM/d), (2 BW), (4.91 4.31% DMIr/d), target (17 vs d), ADG (1.3 1.3 kg/d), ADG/DMIc (0.127 0.128), fBW (483 484kg) HCW (285 285kg). use an less than did not improve performance, therefore would be recommended.

Analysis of longitudinal data of Nellore cattle from performance test at pasture using random regression model

This study was carried out to estimate (co)variance components and genetic parameters for live weight of Nellore cattle from Performance Test of Young Bulls using random regression models. Data of weights and ages of 925 weaned males was used. The animal model included the fixed effect of contemporary group, age of the animal at weighing as a covariate and as random effects it was considered th...

Genomic analysis of stayability in Nellore cattle

Stayability, which can be defined as the probability of a cow calving at a certain age when given the opportunity, is an important reproductive trait in beef cattle because it is directly related to herd profitability. The objective of this study was to estimate genetic parameters and to identify possible genomic regions associated with the phenotypic expression of stayability in Nellore cows. ...

Genetic Analysis of Growth Traits in Polled Nellore Cattle Raised on Pasture in Tropical Region Using Bayesian Approaches

Components of (co)variance and genetic parameters were estimated for adjusted weights at ages 120 (W120), 240 (W240), 365 (W365) and 450 (W450) days of Polled Nellore cattle raised on pasture and born between 1987 and 2010. Analyses were performed using an animal model, considering fixed effects: herd-year-season of birth and calf sex as contemporary groups and the age of cow as a covariate. Gi...

Feeding Wheat to Finishing Cattle

cyclical, and is historically dependent on factors affecting world supply and demand for wheat as a human foodstuff. Wheat generally becomes economically feasible to feed when the price per bushel is 108–115% that of corn, as a result of higher bushel weight and protein concentration. This generalized value is somewhat of a “moving target” as numerous factors affect the ability to utilize wheat...

Alternative Feeds for Beef Cattle During Periods

Drought is a frequent challenge to beef producers, and many operations would benefit from developing a better drought management plan. Producers should be constantly aware of their pasture conditions, stored forage supplies, animal feed demand, and long-term weather forecasts. The recent widespread drought across the Southern U.S. has led to large harvested forage shortages, depressed local cat...
